HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College athletic department has announced the hiring of Drew Hargrave as head volleyball coach. Hargrave comes to Haverford College after spending the last three seasons as an assistant coach at Smith College.

"Haverford is a place where the student-athletes are able to excel both academically and athletically. I look forward to being a part of this program and continuing the Fords' commitment to excellence on and off the court."

"Drew's playing and coaching experiences have provided her with a firm foundation from which to establish a successful Haverford program within the highly competitive Centennial Conference and beyond. Her commitment to and enthusiasm for providing an environment that reflects Haverford's academic emphasis within the Division III philosophy will allow her student-athletes to excel in all facets of their Haverford career."
During three years at Smith College in Northampton, Mass., Hargrave was responsible for all aspects of the volleyball program, including on-court instruction, scouting, and recruiting. While at Smith, Hargrave earned her Masters of Science in exercise and sports studies. During her time as an assistant coach, Hargrave helped the Pioneers to an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) New England tournament berth, a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) team sportsmanship award, and coached five NEWMAC Academic All-Conference selections.
Hargrave completed a decorated four-year career at Washington University in St. Louis. During Hargrave's freshman season (2009), the Bears won the NCAA Division III National Championship. The standout outside hitter and team captain went on to earn three-straight American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America selections. She also received the University's A. Gwendolyn Drew award, presented to the most distinguished female scholar-athlete upon her graduation from Washington University in 2013.
A USA Volleyball certified referee, Hargrave has also served as the head coach of the Pioneer Valley volleyball club during the spring of 2015 after spending one year as an assistant coach. She also served as an assistant coach at Team Momentum in St. Louis during the 2013 spring season.
